About Life Navigation Network Project

How it all started

For most of us, our 19th birthday is a momentous occasion. We celebrate, we party, we step into our “first day” as an adult often without realizing that, overnight, an entire framework of laws, rules, and responsibilities has quietly taken hold.

Suddenly, a vast network of obligations applies to you.

Without proper notice. Without real education.

Without any of the thirteen years we spend in school sparing even a moment to explain what comes next.

No societal lesson. No structured guidance. No inherited playbook from parents or grandparents.

Just the sudden application of policy and consequence without acceptance, agreement, confirmation, or comprehension. Your existence is now regulated.

And ignorance of the law is never a defence. As a young adult on my own, without anyone to guide me, I struggled. Sometimes, I suffered, painfully.

I lost battles and I lost wars. The system had me at hello.  It came in threes. It kicked me when I was down. But something unexpected happened. Every time things tried to defeat me, I got motivated instead of compliant. I got determined instead of defeated. I stopped failing. And I started winning.

Over time, that hardship of mine and so many others’ became the foundation for this resource. The Life Navigation Network Project exists so you don’t have to learn everything the hard way.

We want you to see the world with “Matrix-coded” glasses on, to understand how systems actually function, and how to move through them with confidence, clarity, and strategy. Like building a sandwich: step by step, with nothing hidden.

We don’t believe that people are meant to suffer in order to become responsible, contributing members of society.

We believe you should be taught. Supported. Guided.

And most importantly, Equipped. We believe you deserve to learn from our mistakes, so you don’t have to earn them yourself.

Because knowledge is power. And we are here to help you become very powerful...

The Life Navigation Network Project is built on the belief that people deserve clear, practical, and honest access to the systems that govern their lives. We focus on translating complex laws, policies, and institutional processes into plain-language guidance that can be understood and applied in real-world situations. Access to information will always remain free to all users across this platform.

Our approach combines legal literacy, lived experience, and evidence-based research. We prioritize accuracy, transparency, and accessibility, while acknowledging how systems operate in practice, not just in theory. Every resource is designed to help users think strategically, advocate for themselves, and make informed decisions with confidence.

We do not promote shortcuts or false promises. We provide tools, context, and insight so individuals can navigate systems ethically, effectively, and on their own terms.

The Life Navigation Network Project was founded by Kyla Knull, a disability advocate, self-represented litigant, and systems navigator with extensive lived experience across healthcare, disability supports, consumer protection, transportation, accessibility, and administrative law.

After spending years navigating complex institutions and organizations without adequate guidance or support and witnessing how easily people are harmed by gaps in education and accountability Kyla was compelled to offer a solution.

Kyla began developing practical tools to help others avoid the same barriers.

Her work is informed by direct experience, meticulous documentation, and successful self-advocacy in high-stakes legal and administrative processes.

LNNP reflects her commitment to fairness, transparency, and empowering individuals with the knowledge needed to protect their rights and futures.

Kyla lives with her family in the Canadian Rockies

The Life Navigation Network Project Artist Application

The Life Navigation Network Project is built on the belief that public knowledge should be shaped by the people it serves.

While early visual materials were created using digital tools to launch the platform efficiently, we are actively working to expand and prioritize human-created artwork, photography, illustration, and design that reflects the diversity, strength, and lived experience of our communities.

We invite artists, designers, photographers, and creators of all backgrounds to submit original works for consideration for public display across the LNNP platform and educational materials.

Selected submissions will be featured on a rotating basis, with new collections showcased annually, ensuring ongoing opportunities for community voices to be seen and celebrated.

Why Contribute?

By participating, creators will:

  • Share their work with a broad, engaged public audience
  • Support accessible civic education and empowerment
  • Help shape how important social and life-navigation information is visually communicated
  • Be credited for their contributions wherever their work appears

What We’re Looking For

We welcome original works that reflect themes of:

  • Growth, resilience, and learning
  • Community and belonging
  • Justice, dignity, and self-advocacy
  • Youth leadership and empowerment
  • Navigation, transition, and transformation

All styles and mediums are welcome, including digital art, illustration, photography, mixed media, and graphic design.

Submission & Selection

Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis by the project team and community partners. Selected works will be included in rotating public displays for a one-year term, with opportunities for renewal and future collaboration.

This initiative is part of our commitment to ethical creation, community participation, and amplifying local talent.

To submit your work or learn more, please fill out the application below.

Together, we can ensure that the visual language of civic education reflects the real creativity, diversity, and strength of the people it serves.
